About
The International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC) is an algorithmic programming contest for college students. Teams of three, representing their university, work to solve the most real-world problems, fostering collaboration, creativity, innovation, and the ability to perform under pressure. It is the oldest, largest, and most prestigious programming contest in the world, featuring contestants from over 2,000 universities that are spread across 80 countries and six continents.

2023-2024 North America Championship
- UCLA Stroopwafel (William Zhao, Kevin Sheng, and Xuanhao Cui) placed 24th.
2023-2024 Regionals
- UCLA's teams placed 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 5th, 7th, and 15th.
- UCLA Stroopwafel (William Zhao, Kevin Sheng, and Xuanhao Cui) qualified for the North American Championship.
2022-2023 World Finals
- UCLA Tortellini (Jason Liu, Nikil Roashan Selvam, and Rishi Sankar) competed in Luxor, Egypt.
- Congratulations to Jason Liu, Nikil Roashan Selvam, and Rishi Sankar for their amazing performance at ICPC World Finals in Luxor, solving 5 problems and placing 52nd out of 130 teams.
2022-2023 North American Championship
- UCLA Tortellini (Jason Liu, Nikil Roashan Selvam, and Rishi Sankar) placed 15th qualifying for the World Finals.

2020-2021 World Finals
- UCLA Ice-cream Sandwich (Lucas Xia, Jacob Zhang, and Arihant Jain) competed in Dhaka, Bangladesh.
- Congratulations to Arihant Jain, Jacob Zhang, and Lucas Xia for their amazing performance at ICPC World Finals in Dhaka, solving 6 problems and placing 34th out of 132 teams.
2021-2022 Regionals

FAQ
While all our events and workshops are open to all, selection for the UCLA ICPC regionals team is based solely on performance in the annual tryouts (we ICPC officers have to try out too!) Each year, the top 12-15 performers in the tryout are invited to represent UCLA at the Southern California ICPC Regionals. It is also worth mentioning that this tryout process is completely different from the application to join us as an officer! You need not be an expert at competitive programming to join us. All you need is a passion for teaching and problem-solving!
Absolutely! Team formation to left to be an organic process amongst the selected contests. Contestants form teams as they wish, typically after practicing together as a big group and identifying each individual’s strengths and weaknesses. However, each contestant must tryout individually.
Not at all! The tryout process is completely independent of the ICPC officers application process. Selection for the UCLA ICPC regionals team is based solely on performance in the annual tryouts (we ICPC officers have to try out too!) Each year, the top 12-15 performers in the tryout are invited to represent UCLA at the Southern California ICPC Regionals.
